confirmation-link failure: appointment cannot be confirmed

I have a problem concerning the confirmation-link. When I click on the link the website opens but the message "Termin kann nicht bestätigt werden" (=Appointment can not be confirmed) is displayed.
Nothing changes in the backend, the appointment is not confirmed, it remains on the state "Reservation".
when I copy & paste the URL into the browser address line the same error occurs.
I have no idea how to troubleshoot this problem. what can I do now?
(Could there be a server configuration problem? I made a test-installation on an other webserver where everything was working fine.... No idea which difference between these webservers could cause the problem)

I also tried to activate the confirmation-button on the confirmation page but the problem stays the same. the confirmatino button appears but klicking on it shows the message written above.

Can you please check what is the status of appointment? Only pending appointments can be confirmed.

mounharIt is “Reservierung” (in English “Reserved”) and is automtaically deleted after approximately one hour
On my Testsystem it is “unbestätigt” = pending.
I just saw that there is a field for standard status which is set to “Reserviert”. Now I changed it to pending and everything ist okay…
another short Question: can I customize the look of the confirmation-dialouge?
